LIS6409 Introduction to Library Administration
In this class I worked to create a Strategic Plan for the department of Library Media Services at the School District of Palm Beach County. The department was going through a transition as a long time specialist had retired and there was going to be a period of a year while the department was understaffed. I wanted to have a plan of action in place once the new specialist came aboard.

Effective communication is must for the information professional. In Personal Information Management we spent the semester learning how to organize our personal information and as our culminating project we needed to communicate to our peers the results of our information organization project. I chose to create a video about my experiences organizing my data from the summer I spent at the Library of Congress Summer Teacher Institute. The video represents the culminating project

co-curricular - I am the Instructional Specialist for Library Media for the School District of Palm Beach County. One of the largest aspects of my job is professional development. Recently I sat on the statewide committee to update the FINDS standards. Once the standards were approved by the Florida Department of Education, I knew I needed to teach the media specialists in the district about the new standards. I created a 30 minute training as part of my Topical Tuesday bi-weekly webinar series. The video you are viewing is of the FINDS training I provided for the media specialists in Palm Beach County.

I am passionate about diverse literature and in this course we were created a LibGuide on a topic of our choice. I chose to create my LibGuide on the need for diverse literature and where it can be found.
